Hedstrom Awarded by PGA

Mayor Erin E. Stewart, Commission Chairman Patrick Dorsey and Vice Chairman Paul A. Shaker Sr. have announced that Kyle Hedstrom, Golf Professional, has been named the recipient of the 2016 Youth Player Development Award from the Connecticut Section of the PGA (Professional Golf Association).
According to the PGA, “this award bestows recognition on a PGA professional who is a leader in junior golf, reflects the qualities and ideals of those who work with our nation’s youth, and provides opportunities and experiences for juniors to learn and play golf”.
Mayor Stewart said, “This recognition is testament to the great lengths Kyle goes to in order to spread the game of golf to individuals of all ages and abilities. Stanley Golf Course is one of the destinations in New Britain that puts our city on the map, and much of that is due to the leadership of Kyle.”
“Leaders in the golf industry, at every level, know how important it is that we engage youth at the earliest possible age to ensure a solid future for the game. We are very proud of Kyle’s efforts in this regard”, said Erik Barbieri, Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services.
Kyle Hedstrom stated about receiving the award, “It is truly an honor to be recognized by my peers for this prestigious award. This would not have been possible without the continued ongoing commitment of the City of New Britain in making Stanley Golf Course one of the most junior friendly facilities in Connecticut.”
Throughout the years, Golf Professional Hedstrom and his team have provided a multitude of quality youth programming at Stanley Golf Course, including: First Tee, Start Smart Golf and Stanley’s Teaching Academy Summer Junior Programs. Stanley Golf Course has also been the proud host of the Travelers PGA Tour Junior Clinic on four different occasions.
