It was another great day to be a New Britanite Tuesday, as Central Park saw food trucks for the first time as well as music and art as part of its rededication ceremony.
The park seems much bigger than ever and residents were envisioning what the park’s future could hold. The possibilities really felt endless as those in attendance were all smiles.
Many worried that the park will not stay this way. A beat officer will be patrolling the park to keep out those up to no good. A policy was put into place last week to ticket those who aggressively panhandle in the City.
The new policy was a bit controversial. We shall see if it works or not.
The park really felt very different. But time will tell. Mayor Erin Stewart stressed people to take back the park and make it a place everyone could go.
I like the bright lights. The place is well lit.
It will not answer all the City’s problems, but it is a start. I hope residents come downtown more often. I am definitely going to try.
Across town near CCSU a new restaurant is coming in Hot Harry’s. This is the first Hot Harry’s in the State and the first burrito spot in the City. I envision it similar to Moe’s and Chipotle. We will know more when it opens, but read the story on page 1.
A ribbon cutting was also held this week for Krispy Krunchy Chicken on Arch St. I sampled some chicken and is was very good. Give it a try.
It seems each week new restaurants and businesses come to New Britain. I can’t wait to find out what will go in at the old police station.
I am pretty sure it will include much needed housing. I am interested in seeing what else will be there.
Don’t forget the Race in the Park on Saturday. It is an important event for the City as well as the Connecticut Breast Health Initiative. Everyone should learn more about breast cancer. Read more about it on page 2.
Also this week we have a story on new processes taking place at the town clerk’s office. The State is recognizing them for their good work. Another positive in this City. See page 3.
Time for a joke from Facebook.
“Housework is what a woman does that nobody notices until she hasn’t done it.”
This is 2016. I think men should take some responsibility in housework too.
Until next week, get someone to clean your house, and keep reading New Britain’s #1 Most Trusted Newspaper!
