What a great week it was with the Bees opening last week and the Little Poland Festival on Sunday.
There really is no better place to be than New Britain.
The game was amazing. I bought a t-shirt and hat. We lost, but it didn’t matter. The Bees were winners on opening night. The crowd was not enormous, but it was a Thursday. I will be back for more games for sure.
If you wanted enormous crowds then you had to go to the Little Poland Festival. I am not Polish, but sure wished I was Sunday. It seems everyone was there. The food and entertainment were terrific. Lucian Pawlak did a great job organizing it.
They say nearly 20,000 people turned out. I don’t remember any City event that big. Main Street USA many years ago was the last huge event in New Britain.
I would say ‘New Britski rocks!’
Speaking of events, we are already planning for this year’s Halloween Safe Zone event. We need sponsors. Call or email me if you can help in any way. Our next meeting is June 3 at 9 a.m. at the Downtown District if you want to come and help out.
This week’s paper has a lot of great news.
I never knew the City could buy the electric poles from Eversource. Mayor Erin Stewart seems to always be doing something new. I don’t know how she gets so many ideas. We truly are in the 21st century.
Another dilapidated building has been sold. The Hatch building is being sold for $25,000. It would be nice to see all the vacant buildings sold in downtown. Who knows what can become of our great City. One step at a time we are getting better. We must do it together. I believe!
I hope everyone turns out for Tuesday’s event at Central Park. Let’s make the park something to brag about again. Have some food and take it all in. I hope events at the park become a regular thing. It can be a hot spot for the public to enjoy. Those that work downtown can take the most advantage of it. No one has to buy food everyday. Bring your own sandwiches and sit on a bench.
So are you ready for my Facebook joke?
“Everybody has the power to make someone happy. Some do it by entering the room, others do it by leaving.”
People make me most happy by entering, but I can understand the other way as well.
Until next week make someone happy and keep reading YOUR #1 Most Trusted Newspaper!
