I went to Smalley School as an elementary student. It was a shame to take a tour this week and see it in such disrepair. School officials have done everything they could to keep it in shape. Our children deserve better.
Hopefully, Gov. Dannel Malloy will keep his word and fund 79 percent of this renovation project (see page 1). I know times are tough, but this can only be delayed so long. The Common Council also needs to help approve it. This project needs to be a priority.
I bet most of you are as weary as I am in this recent winter weather we are receiving. Why did we get spring in February and winter in April? It did produce a few nice rainbows last week. Facebook was filled with great photographs. I am definitely ready for 60 degrees and sunny. Go away snow!
We have a great article on New Parks and Recreation Director Eric Barbieri. It is nice to see someone good takeover for Bill DeMaio. DeMaio is a legend and we all have great hopes for Barbieri.
Willie Pep’s has been open for a year now. Have you been to it? See more on page 2 and visit this awesome New Britain restaurant. I can’t wait to try it. Their menu looks amazing.
I want to remind everyone that budget season is here. The budget hearing is April 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Gaffney School. Mark the date. The Mayor will present her budget on April 13. It is time to get your voice heard. Tell the Council what you think about it whether it is good or bad.
As tag sale season is rolling around, I want to remind you that tag sale ads are free in the City Journal. Email them to [email protected] or call them in to 860-505-7612. We do our best to keep things free. Do support our advertisers who keep the paper free. Getting anything for free these days seem unheard of.
Did you see the BNB Pie Face Event? Have you ever played the game? Come April 28 and have a lot of fun. See the ad. Registration is in advance. Hope to see you there.
Time for our weekly Facebook joke.
“Facial software recognition can pick a person out of a crowd, but the vending machine at work can’t recognize a dollar bill with a bent corner.”
I have used some machines who can’t recognize a bill with a tiny wrinkle. It is so frustrating.
Until next week, be careful not to wrinkle your dollar bills and keep reading YOUR #1 Most Trusted New Britain Newspaper!
