Get Your Voices Heard

On Monday night residents had the opportunity to write down their visions for a brighter New Britain. Anything and everything ever imagined was asked for by those doing the study.

Great ideas were thrown out there by many people. Each will be looked at by the study firm and used for the City’s future growth.

Several meetings on the City’s future have taken place. About 50 visionaries showed up each time and try to change the City. Many are the same caring people that always show up to lend a hand to the City.

Where are the rest of the residents? Everyone has ideas and complaints about New Britain. More people need to come out and get their voices heard instead of just complaining.

Many great ideas were probably overlooked. No one at the meeting mentioned a movie theater or a carousel or a stadium of any kind downtown.

What would you like to see in our City? A lot of good ideas are out there, but our residents need to get involved in what is happening in the City so their visions can be heard.

Attendance at most Council meetings are minimal. Big issues happen regularly, but no one gets involved.

Everyone has lives. It is difficult to be involved in everything. But, if change is to take place, residents need to take part.

All of us have our own unique ideas. Each is so important. Residents need to feel they play a role in what is happening.

Opportunities like a vision meeting or a Council meeting should not be overlooked.

There is a design workshop next month concerning the vision of the City. Make it a point to be there if only for a half hour.

Council meetings happen on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. They can also be viewed on Ch. 96 at 7 p.m.

Get involved. New Britain needs all of us if it is going to continue to get better.
