First off in talking about the Yankees this season, I need to complain that YES in no longer on Comcast. I will not be able to see a lot of games this year. I ask Comcast and YES to please come to an agreement. If not, I will eventually have to drop Comcast. Most of you need to tell Comcast to bring back YES. Complain today.
This year I am hoping the Yankees pitching staff can lead the way. The team has some good pitchers. If they can keep games close, it should be a good year.
I’m still wary of the offense. There have been some improvements, but I’m not sure there is enough.
Last year the Yankees started off strong and by mid-season looked tired and old. We certainly need some young talent to avoid that this year.
Prediction time:
In the American League East how can any team other than the Toronto Blue Jays be chosen. They had such a strong second half last year. They are the team to beat.
In the American League West I am sticking with the Houston Astros. They have young players like New Britain’s own George Springer.
In the American League Central I like Detroit over Kansas City because I think their pitching is better. The Royals offense is much stronger though.
In the National League West I take the San Francisco Giants. Johnny Cueto, Jeff Samardzija and Denard Span will boost the team.
The National League Central will be all about the Chicago Cubs. They made some big additions and will be extremely tough this year.
In the National League East I am taking the New York Mets. They have a great rotation which will help if the hitting slumps.
My Wild Card winners are New York and Kansas City in the American League and Washington and Los Angeles in the National League.
I believe the World Series to be Toronto and Chicago. I’m taking the Cubs to win it all. The jinx is over.
