Hopes for a New Democratic Chairman

A new Democratic Chairman has been chosen and with it brings time for a new beginning.
There are several kinds of leaders. We feel the new chairman needs to be a unifying force. A person who truly wants to work with everyone. Someone who wants to bring the City together rather than just divide it by political party.
New Britain needs someone who will put the City first above political goals. It needs to be someone everyone looks forward to working with especially in tough times. A kind, understanding individual whose goals are not to slander and harass its opposition. The City has had enough backstabbing and political grandstanding.
This does not mean the new chair should not fight for what he believes. It must be done with a level head.
If the new chairman is not new blood and is no different than the past, then residents will get the same old continual rhetoric spewing hate and divisiveness.
A true leader, leads by example. If the example is one of aggressiveness, anger and combativeness, it will be a tumultuous party. Nothing really would have improved.
Attack mode is not the right direction. We have enough of that on the national level.
The New Britain Republican Party has tried to become open for everyone. It has listened and wants to work with everyone regardless of their party. That has made it successful.
The New Britain Democratic Party needs to learn from their mistakes and not repeat them over again by being ornery and playing the blame game.
Residents have had enough of the party feeling superior and that they could do no wrong. That is the biggest reason they lost majority in the last election.
If the chairmanship has truly changed we will have a better New Britain. A New Britain we can all be proud of once again.
Let’s wish for the best, because New Britain deserves nothing less than a strong and effective two party system.
