Bees Stadium Gets a Honey of a Makeover

Honeycombs adorn the walls of New Britain Stadium as it prepares to be ready for Opening Day, April 21.

The new colors and names appear across the stadium as well as in rugs in and around the offices. The stadium will play host to the Bees’ 70 home games and special events.

New turf has been put in around the infield and places vandalized by the departing Rock Cats have been repaired.

“The entire concourse is getting painted. The suite levels are getting upgrades from new carpeting to new flooring to new millwork,” said Patrick Day, Bees General Manager. “The locker rooms are being upgraded. There will be caulking on the walls. We could not be happier as the City of New Britain is just amazing partners. We could not be prouder to be working with them.”

Day said the colors pop and more signs will be made before opening day in front of the stadium.

Individual tickets for all home games during the team’s inaugural 2016 season will go on sale Saturday, March 19 at 10 a.m. The New Britain Stadium box office will be the only place fans can purchase tickets at that time. To ensure the best availability for all of this year’s promotional dates, fans are encouraged to arrive at the ballpark early.

“This will be a historic season for this team and the great city of New Britain,” said Day. “This will be a celebratory day for all of central Connecticut, and we look forward to seeing everyone out at the stadium for a fun-filled atmosphere.”

All fans are invited to join in the excitement and entertainment at New Britain Stadium on March 19. There will be a host of fun activities taking place for of all ages, and this will be the first opportunity to secure seats for individual Bees games this year. The Bees Shop will open at 9 a.m. for fans to browse and purchase a wide selection of Bees apparel.

The box office will officially open at 1 a.m. for those waiting in line to purchase their individual game tickets. The first fan in line for tickets will receive several exciting prizes for showing their support, so arrive early. Those wishing to skip the lines on March 19 should contact the Bees at 860-826-2337 to find out how to become a season ticket or 10-game mini plan holder.

The Bees will also host an inaugural Job Fair at New Britain High School on Saturday, March 12. The team will be accepting applications and interviewing candidates beginning at 10 a.m. for game day staff positions during the 2016 season.

The Bees will be interviewing for the following positions on the organization’s game day staff: ushers, ticket takers, vendors, merchandise, parking lot attendants, box office assistants, bat boys, cleaning crew and security. All applicants must be 16 years of age or older. The Job Fair will conclude at 2 p.m. and those in attendance will receive first consideration for employment during the 2016 season.

In addition, the Bees will be interviewing for exciting opportunities with the team’s promotional crew. Applications will be accepted for positions such as on-field host, public address announcer, music coordinator, video board operators, camera, and team mascot performer. This is a chance to become part of the team responsible for providing Bees fans with a plethora of family fun and entertainment every night.

Legends, the food service provider of the Bees, will be interviewing candidates for the following positions: seasonal interns, stand managers, servers, cashiers, warehouse workers, cooks, dishwashers, vendors and administrative help.
