There are many great restaurants to eat in New Britain and Berlin. But, some are more unique than others. Here is our 2016 Top 10 Restaurants to try this year.

Belvidere Restaurant - One of many outstanding Polish restaurants in the City, Belvidere makes the list due to it’s upscale modern dining room decorated with unique artwork and great food. It has a full menu, bar and has freshly made home made paczki’s Tuesday through Fridays. It also has the best potato pancakes in town. Whether you are a connoisseur of Polish food or not. You won’t be disappointed at The Belvidere Restaurant, 82 Broad St. in New Britain.

Blue Lobster - If you are a fan of fried seafood, you should be sure to include the Blue Lobster in your plans. It makes the list because it is a piece of the beach close to home. It has hot buttered lobster rolls, clam chowder, huge portions of clam strips and other fried seafood. Located at 376 Berlin Turnpike in Berlin, you will get a restaurant with all the shoreline charm and food to match.

Criollisimo - If you have not tried Puerto Rican food, what are you waiting for? This award winning restaurant features baked chicken, pork roast, ribs, cod, steak and more. Get them with rice and beans. Your taste buds will be happy. Portions are big enough for two and the seating is cozy and clean. Takeout and catering is also available.

Voted to have the Best Puerto Rican food in the state, Criollisimo is located at 340 Arch St. in New Britain.

East Side - “Ticky tocky hoy hoy hoy” East Side is the best themed restaurant in the City and maybe the State. With outstanding German food, this restaurant is an adventure for the mouth and soul. You can get music and celebrations throughout your visit.

Did we mention the beer? You won’t get a better selection of European beer anywhere.

East Side is located at 131 Dwight St., New Britain. No passport required!

Great Taste - Wherever you travel in Connecticut, the one thing people seem to know about New Britain is that The Great Taste is located here.

The best Chinese food in the State, Great Taste features all the regulars as well as specialty dishes. Whether it is lunch or dinner, this restaurant is packed.

Besides the food, this restaurant makes the list because of its ambience and upper class feel. This is not your neighborhood Chinese food restaurant.

Ties are not required, but dressing your best is highly recommended as are reservations.

Great Taste is located at 597 West Main St in New Britain.

Mae Kong - For a feel of New York City close to home, stop by 26 Main St, in New Britain. The Thai cafe offers noodles, curries & vegetable dishes in a simple room with traditional accents. Honey shrimp, crispy chicken and crispy crab are a few of the specialty dinners. For lunch try a noodle or rice dish.

It has been in New Britain for two and one-half years and has been delighting the community ever since.

Portofino’s, 246 New Britain Rd, Kensington. You have had Italian food before, but probably not as authentic as at the southern and Northern Italian cuisine at Portofino’s. For those that love real Italian food this is the place to go.

Start off with an Antipasto Italiano or Antipasto Misto.

Dinner includes such items as Penne Genovese, Gnocchi Napoletano, Fettuccine Zingarella, Penne al Vodka and Penne Arrabiata. There is plenty from the grill like New York Steak Pizzaioli and New York Steak Calabrese.

For a fine dining experience, this is the best Italian restaurant in the area.

Riley’s Hot Dog & Hamburger Gourmet makes this list due to its originality and great food. It is located at 61 Glen St. and is a must try for hot dog and burger lovers.

It offers Mac n Cheese burgers, Texas BQ burgers, Buffalo Bleu burger, Popper dogs, the Backyard Dog and much more.

There truly is not a more original or interesting place to get Burgers or hot dogs in New Britain.

Seating is limited, but the atmosphere is very nice with some New Britain nostalgia attached. It’s hours are Monday: CLOSED; Tues - Wed: 11a.m. - 6pm;Thurs - Fri: 11a.m. - 8p.m.; Saturday: 11am - 3p.m.; Sunday: CLOSED.

Seoul BBQ and Sushi, Cuisine, 593 Hartford Ave. - If you have not been here yet, you will be delighted to find it is one of the most unique dining experiences offered in the City.

What makes this special is more than just the good food. Order at least two Korean meals such as Bulgogi (Thin Slices of Beef Marinated with Special House Soy Sauce) and you will be served a variety of delightful side dishes. It will include items like eggplant, fish, tofu, beans, candied prawns, potatoes and many more. Each person will get a plate to taste some of each. Ask the server what is in each one for more details.

Then, an employee will cook your meat at the table and you can help if you wish. All will be served with white rice and a salad for the table.

West Side Tavern, 586 West Main St. - Brazilian food and more in a cozy delightful atmosphere.

Start your meal with a great appetizer like mussels or garlic clams or a salad Nazari.

The owners have plenty of dishes to please any palette.

Main courses include items like Paella ala Casa, Boneless Hen, Brazilian steak or pork chops and even a variety of burgers.

There are also coffee drinks, wine drinks, vodka drinks and more. All served at reasonable prices.

In warm weather enjoy it all on the patio. This has quickly become a New Britain favorite.
