“WinterFest 2016 will be a great opportunity for the whole family to come out to the park and enjoy the winter season with the rest of the New Britain Community. The winter activities available to the public will include, sledding, interactive inflatables, carnival games, giant trampolines, and more,” explained Director Erik Barbieri.
Other activities planned for this year’s WinterFest at Walnut Hill Park, behind the Darius Miller music shell include a D.J. dance party, pony rides, clowns, caricaturists, magicians, four station trampoline, photo booth, ice sculptures by Spring Brook Ice and Fuel Service, face painters, spin art, gladiator joust, carnival games, needle-in-the-haystack treasure hunt, micro car derby, warming fires, and several interactive inflatables. Sleds and saucers will be available at the park for sledding, weather permitting. There is no inclement weather date if conditions warrant cancellation of the event.
Wristbands will be available for purchase for $5.00 per individual and family four-packs are $15.00, allowing unlimited access to the attractions and amusements. In addition, all those who purchase wristbands have the opportunity to sign up for a free raffle. The Parks and Recreation Department also encourages families to have lunch in the park; hot dogs, hamburgers, hot chocolate, cotton candy, popcorn, coffee, soda and other concessions will be available for purchase.
“I’m hoping that the weather will cooperate for WinterFest to make its return,” said Mayor Stewart. “This event will give residents the opportunity to have some fun and entertainment at Walnut Hill Park in a scenic winter setting.”
The entire loop around Walnut Hill Park will be closed during the event. Side street parking will be available for people interested in attending the event.
