Forgiveness

Unfortunately somewhere along the line, maybe you took a wrong turn. You have library items that you didn’t return. Maybe they got tucked on a shelf or stuck under the bed. Or maybe by the time you thought about returning them, the overdue fines added up to more than you could pay. Maybe it was as simple as - time got away from you. It happens.
It happened to me when my kids were small. I had an item on my card that I was sure I had returned. Just in case, we looked all over the house but no luck. I paid for it so we could continue to use my library card. Guess what – we moved and found it under the refrigerator. Creative children!
Here’s your chance – clear your card and help your community. From February 8 through February 20th, we will be holding “Food for Fines” days at the library.
Do you have fines on your card to the point where you can’t use it? Do you have overdue items but are worried about returning them because of the fines? It’s time to visit us. We are forgiving fines, up to $25. No questions asked. Clear your card. Make your fines disappear. In order to have this happen you must bring one non-perishable item for every $5 that you owe. We will forgive fines up to $25, for New Britain items on your card, which were returned late. Fines will also be forgiven if you bring back those late items that you still have at home. “Lost “items can’t be cleared unless they are returned and only New Britain items qualify. The food items will be given to a local food pantry. Get your card back in good standing.
Don’t lose this chance – this is a rare event. Help us make this a triple success: getting your card cleared so you can use it again, getting our items back so others can use them and helping those less fortunate with the donations of nonperishable food.
Why are we doing this – because we want you back! We know the importance and value of having a library card and what it can bring you. Everyone should have a library card. If you don’t, why not? It’s free and brings many benefits and variety of free resources and services.
