Think Twice

Two City officials, who have been found to have violated city ordinances, the City Charter and Civil laws, are still running for office on the Democratic slate this year in Michael Trueworthy and Suzanne Bielinski.
Ms. Bielinski was found to have violated our City Charter and City Ordinances, by voting and influencing officials to choose a new Council Secretary position for her niece by marriage. In addition she had the position placed in a higher paying supervisor’s union.
In July of 2014 then Mayor Pro Tem, Mike Trueworthy barged into city hall drunk, demanding access to Mayor Erin Stewart’s office and proceeded to vilify her in a profanity laced rage. Mr. Trueworthy was escorted out by friends. He then made his way to a local tavern and continued ranting using homophobic slurs against a business owner
Come time to face the Council, Democratic Town Chairman John McNamara led a crowd to speak about his virtues to keep him on the Council.
Although Mr. Tueworthy surrendered his Pro Tem position, the nine Democrats in his caucus stymied his removal from the Council. So, who did the Democrats put in the Pro Tem position? You guessed it! They chose Ms. Bielinski.
All of this has been an embarrassment to the City. Residents need tell these two officials their behavior will not be tolerated any longer.
With this in mind, the New Britain City Journal endorses Tremell Collins, Jim Sanders Jr., Chris Polkowski, Daniel Davis and incumbent Daniel Salerno for Aldermen at Large.
