Mayoral Endorsement

It is not a big surprise that the New Britain City Journal is endorsing Incumbent Erin Stewart to remain Mayor in the next election.
There are many reasons we feel she is the best choice come Election Day.
In the past two years Mayor Stewart has done so many things that brought New Britain back from the dead.
She started with a budget that was causing the City to lose control to the State. She fought hard to keep the financial woes from forcing the City to be unbondable. Instead, she has upgraded the City in one short year by three grades and created a surplus.
Mayor Stewart did raise taxes, but it was not a decision she chose lightly. She pondered for many days what to do. She chose doing what was right for the City rather than what was popular for her political career. Those kind of decisions put her a cut above opponents who seem to put their personal needs first. Much like her father Tim Stewart, she puts what is best for New Britain above all else.
Mayor Stewart has worked harder than any previous mayor on the homeless situation in New Britain. She has organized groups to find ways to impact our poor. It is an ongoing project that cannot be put to the side. There is now enough in play to actually begin to see progress in the next two years.
She has brought in business from Costco to a new owner of the Berkowitz Building, an ice cream store on Farmington Ave. and many more in between. Each week it seems someone new looks into New Britain.
The biggest difference from two years ago seems to be the spirit in the City. People seem to be excited about New Britain. More people have told the New Britain City Journal that they want to move to New Britain because of Mayor Stewart than any other reason. Her bright personality and optimistic attitude is contagious in a City that was once bleak and barren.
From Main Street USA, to the reconstruction at Central Park, the CTFastrak, new development, innovative ideas and more the Mayor has made a name for herself not only in New Britain, but across the State.
New Britain residents are fortunate to have Mayor Stewart remain Mayor in the City rather than run for a higher political office. The City needs to keep Mayor Stewart as long as possible.
She is our brightest shining star and residents should proudly cast their vote for Mayor Stewart on Nov. 3.
