Halloween is getting close and we are still seeking donations. All funds go towards candy or entertainment. Organizers do not make one penny from the event. Send a check to the New Britain Downtown District, 66 West Main St. New Britain 06051 Attn: Halloween Safe Zone. Even $5 helps. Bags of candy can be dropped off there as well.

We started our candidates informational pages this week. The election is getting close. I hope to bring you much more in the next few weeks. Next week we will have information on the alderman at large running for Council.

A debate is planned Saturday at Trinity on Main. Be there if you can. I am hoping there are some good questions and not state or national questions that the Mayor or Aldermen has no effect on. The people want to hear questions about helping New Britain grow. We need to see real plans and not just imaginary visions.

It will be difficult to get a good opinion on each Alderman’s views in a short amount of time. It is very hard to have a good debate when there is more than four people.

If you can’t attend the debate, try to catch is on Nutmeg TV. I do not know the times, but I think it will be on several times. Don’t vote a party or a name. Actually, base your decision on facts. There will be many things thrown out at the debate that are not fact so watch carefully. See who is actually telling the truth and makes sense.

We had a variety of answers on what people think is the biggest issue facing the next mayor. See page 1. I do feel attracting business downtown would benefit the entire City. Helping the homeless and education are always hot topics that need to be dealt with.

Now that the budget is in good shape, it is also important to stay on track. I would hate to see a near disaster take place again.

I want to thank The New Britain City Journal Facebook group for their variety of opinions. Each one of them matters. I believe input from everyone makes the City better.

A question for you. Why would you use dirty energy when you can get clean energy at a lower cost? If you are ready to go solar, save the world and some money then give me a call. Every single New Britain resident should get a site survey and find out what solar is about. You’ve heard about it on TV and radio. Call 860-357-1091 today and if you qualify, I will get you panels on your home at no cost to you. Pay for power and not panels.

Time for my Facebook joke.

“My alarm is clearly jealous of my amazing relationship with my bed.”

Until next week, turn off your alarm clock, and keep reading New Britain’s #1 Most Trusted Newspaper.
