We finally get to imagine a new name for our baseball team. It is so much fun trying to find the right name.
This week members of our Facebook group put a lot of names out there. It will be interesting to see if any of those named by residents are chosen. I could not pick just one I liked. I feel the name must start with New Britain because we need people to know what City it is in. Hard Hittin’ or Hardware City or even Willow Brook are nice, but don’t work.
I also hope something better than the Rock Cats or Yard Goats is chosen. Not that the Rock Cats is a bad name, but it could be even better. Regardless of what is chosen I plan to be behind it.
I can’t wait to buy a new shirt promoting the team. I’m going all out. I hope you will too.
And speaking of teams everyone who likes to be involved in football pools are invited to join the NBCJ Survivor football pool if possible before Thursday nights game. It is at Yahoo and is Group ID# 21971, Password football1. It is free and just for fun. I wish I thought of it a week earlier. Maybe, I’ll have another one in a few weeks.
It sure was nice to see construction on Arch Street. I would love to see that street be Little Latino like Little Poland. The New Britain Latino Coalition is making a difference in this City. See page 3.
HALS seems to be enjoying Roosevelt School. It seemed nice to have them as a separate school, but there are a lot of advantages to the move. See page 1.
I can’t believe Main Street USA is coming Sept. 19. It looks like an amazing day for New Britain.
Time for my Facebook joke. Some weeks I have a hard time finding one. Other weeks I find a few that are amusing to me. This week I must have laughed a lot because I found several.
First are a few that were found on a veterinarian’s sign in front of his office
“Live Nude Dogs. Free Lap Dances!” and “We Like Big Mutts and We Cannot Lie”
There were a few other good ones, but some were inappropriate for this column.
I also found a joke for women of a certain age group.
“When I asked for a smoking hot body. Menopause was not what I had in mind.”
