As I write this the Yankees have yet to play the Boston Red Sox. I am hoping for the best.
I must say the last week has been a dream for Yankee fans. The Yankees won games by scores of 21-5, 13-6 and 12-3.
It was just last year the team could not score more than two runs a game. Now there are laughers a few days a week. Anyone on the team is capable of taking the ball out of the park including shortstop Didi Gregorius.
Gregorius has certainly become a real Yankee. His offense and defense is sparkling right now.
If the pitchers could ever get on track, this team could dominate the American League.
With the addition of young talent like pitcher Luis Severino good things are coming. Ivan Nova and Nathan Eovaldi looked good this week. Masahiro Tanaka has been struggling with his command. I believe CC Sabathia may be washed up. I would like to see Adam Warren take his place in the rotation.
I was glad to see the Yanks not trade any players at the deadline. I don’t want to give anyone up for more old players. A few not so high priced guys may still be available on the wire. Getting rid of Carlos Beltran would be a positive for me. He is way too old and out of shape.
This weekend against Toronto will be very telling. The Blue Jays are hot and looking for a chance to pick up a few games on the Bombers. The Yanks will need plenty of runs to keep up with them.
Josh Donaldson, Troy Tulowitzki and Jose Bautista lead an offensive team that can put up plenty of runs for the Blue Jays. Toronto did acquire David Price in a trade, but one pitcher may not be enough for them. Their pitching is atrocious.
If the Yanks take this series it will mean they are for real. The Red Sox match-up is fun. The Toronto games are much more important. Watch them carefully and root for the Yankees!
