Editor’s Note 7-31-2015

It’s always nice to have a week off like last week. I hear a lot of upset people when we take a week off. Expect a few more as the summer is slow. Not to worry. We will be back on track every week come September.

A few things about this week’s paper. You may notice we have information on the Republican candidates and not on the Democrats. There are several reasons for this. Number one was that we were off last week and did not work and that is when the Democrats held their meetings.

So to be fair we did not cover the Republicans. We only ran items that were sent in. If the Democratic committee would like to send items in about their candidates we will run them. The New Britain Republicans are always good about doing that. We shall see if the New Britain Democrats decide to participate.

We are trying not be too political this year and keep our focus on all of New Britain. Of course, we will write an endorsement for Mayor in October where most of our views will come out. I do have strong feelings about this. The City Journal will cover events like the debates and other items sent in as well as other related political stories. Again, we will accept press releases from both parties at [email protected].

So, since I last wrote a column I haven eaten out at several local restaurants. On Sunday night I had the Taste of New Britain $20.15 meal at The Whinstone. I had a Caprese Salad, a Chicken, broccoli and pasta dish (don’t remember the name) and cheesecake. It was excellent. There isn’t much time left to take advantage of the Taste of New Britain deals. So, go no later than Saturday evening to take part. Of course, all my food was wonderful. The Whinstone always has great food. It’s a must eat at establishment.

Flyers are across the City for the entire list of restaurants taking part in New Britain and Berlin.

And as you can see I am still pushing solar. Call me if you want to meet and talk about it for your home at 860-357-1091. I bet I can save you some money while helping to save the earth!

I’m not so sure if I found my joke from Facebook this week or it found me, but here it is.

“As I watched the dog chasing its tail, I thought ‘dogs are easily amused.’ Then I realized I was watching the dog chase its tail.”

Until next week keep your eye on the dog’s tail and keep reading YOUR #1 Most Trusted New Britain Newspaper!
