If you are looking to stop in at a local pizza restaurant or seeking delivery, Pizza Works on South Main Street opened in May and is offering customers an extremely large menu. Not only is pizza and grinders available, but so are triple decker clubs, wraps, quesadilla and nachos, home made panini’s (such as Panini ala Greco and turkey chipotle club), melts and reubens, fried seafood dinners, baked dinners (such as Salisbury steak and Greek platter), sautee specials (such as chicken ala vodka and chicken gorgonzola), omelettes, desserts, hot dogs, burritos, salads and appetizers.

Owner Serkan Bebek of Massachusetts brought his store to New Britain after learning for five years about the business at his parent’s pizza restaurant Brother’s Pizza in Chicopee.

“They have 25 years worth of experience,” said Bebek. “A very long time ago they started it and they taught me everything.”

Bebek wanted to follow in their footsteps. He started looking for a store in the Hartford area and came across the spot at 450 South Main St., which used to house The Fatherland Restaurant.

“I saw this one and thought it was a good location,” he said. “There are a lot of people around here. This town can take care of this.”

Bebek said although he offers a large menu he doesn’t think one item is more special than any other..

“We make everything fresh like the pita pockets,” said Bebek. “We use fresh dough for the pizza. A lot of people use dough for two or three days. Everything is fresh everyday here and that is the reason that we are special.”

A lot of the restaurant’s present business comes from hospitals and nursing home staff from home care centers as the community is just learning about the new restaurant.

“Every week is different. Everyday 5 or 10 new customers come in,” said Bebek. “It is great right now.”

Bebek said he spends a lot of time at the restaurant as he travels almost an hour to get here every day. He has seven employees that deliver, take orders and cook, as well as himself.

There are 8 tables and Pizza Works sits 30 people.

“So far I like New Britain,” he said. “It is a good town.”

Delivery includes New Britain, Berlin, Kensington, Newington and parts of Plainville. There is a $10 minimum and $1 delivery charge.
