I thought our question to our Facebook group quite interesting this month. What qualities do you want in a Mayor? It was not meant as a way to bring praise to our present Mayor although many people did. I thought it telling to see what the people are really looking for in a Mayor. I agree that honesty and transparency are big. A vision is also important as well as having solutions or ideas to help situations and bring about change that is needed.

In the next few months, once a candidate is chosen by the Democratic party, it will be interesting to see which candidate really possesses the qualities desired. I am hopeful both candidates will be honest and positive roll models for our youth. The last thing New Britain needs is a Mayor with hidden secrets and agendas. It should always be about New Britain and its residents first.

We had enough controversies two years ago and there is no desire to go through that again. We need to be sure whoever we vote for is truly deserving.

There is quite a nice event taking place in Kensington on Saturday. It is the Festival on the Hill. If you haven’t been it features lobster rolls, strawberry shortcake, music and vendors. It is at the Kensington Congregational Church. I hope it does not rain. See more info on page 8. Maybe, I’ll see you there.

I also want to send my prayers to the family of Frank Smith. The popular New Britain blogger passed away last week.

Last week I said I would review a few restaurants in this column as things developed. I have a few things I want to tell you about.

The good first. I’ve had a lot of Caesar chicken salad in my time, but none as good as Roma’s Restaurant Caesar Chicken Wrap. I don’t know why it seems so much better than everyone else’s wrap. It is amazing and if you have not tried it, it is a must for lunch. It comes with chips and a pickle.

Although this is not necessarily a restaurant, one day I stopped at Burger King (yes, I know it is fast food, but sometimes I’m in a hurry). I wanted to try the Teriyaki chicken sandwich. This has to be the worst chicken sandwich I ever had. It is basically their regular chicken sandwich with a big gob of teriyaki sauce. I could not finish it as it was so overwhelming. I wanted to wipe the sauce off of it, but there was just so much.Stick with a Whopper and avoid this sandwich.

Time for my Facebook joke.

“Always keep several Get Well cards on your mantelpiece. This way if someone unexpected arrives, they will think you have been sick and unable to clean.”

Until next week keep your cards handy and keep reading New Britain’s #1 Most Trusted Newspaper!
