It’s May so guess what will be coming soon? The political season is right around the corner. This year is important as we decide on who will be our Mayor. Mayor Erin Stewart has yet to officially announce she is running (regardless of what you may have read in another newspaper) although that is expected to happen very soon. Be on the lookout for some kind of special announcement.
We still do not know who will run as a Democrat. Several people have pulled their hat out of the ring. Whoever is chosen I hope it is a good choice this year. It would be nice to have two good candidates.
I have no idea if it will be a battle. It will be interesting to watch.
I had the great pleasure on Tuesday to speak in front of the New Britain Lion’s Club. Although I am a member, I still get nervous speaking in front of groups.
On Tuesday evening I had the chance to talk with many downtown business owners at the Downtown District Annual Meeting. It was quite interesting. Many feel CTFastrak is helping their businesses. Have you used it yet? See page 1 for more info.
I hope you also read page 1 about the Connecticut Main Street Center Gala. I had no idea this was going to be such a big event. The tour of New Britain looks especially interesting. This is just another example of the good things happening in our City.
I want to thank the New Britain Commission on Animal Welfare for writing the Pets Corner on this page. I hope to have many more of these to fill us in on animal topics. There are so many things we don’t know. I never knew dog waste was toxic. Please read this new column so you can learn something new.
Also, don’t miss our great City History column on New Britain, Florida on page 2. I’m kind of bummed they changed their name. It’s an interesting bit about our past.
I found a handful of funny jokes on Facebook this week and had a hard time to choosing just one so here are a couple.
“I choked on a carrot this afternoon and all I could think of was I bet a donut would not have done this to me.”
It doesn’t always pay to eat healthy.
“Always love a woman for her personality. She has 10 on average so you have plenty to choose from.”
