I had the awesome opportunity this week to speak to the newspaper student staff of the Newington St. Mary’s School Times this week. It was a lot of fun and it really made me think. Sometimes I do things so automatic that it is great to look back and talk about the basics. The kids were so smart. They had great questions. I did hear Mayor Erin Stewart spoke to them recently and they were tougher on her. Thank you Mr. Cane for the opportunity.

Are you ready for the CTFastrak? Since the first nine days are free, I’m planning to ride it at least once if for no other reason than to find out for myself where the stops are. I have been excited about this project for years now. Whether or not it is a success I know it has already helped New Britain.

We’ve focused on the school system a lot lately. I am very upset that our students do not get more funding. I do believe the state owes this City more.

I thought it was just wonderful to see Commission Chairpersons get honored. They do the job for free and deserve recognition for their service. It is surprising how many people work for this City for free. An amazing number of people really do care about New Britain.

I think people that volunteer their time for the City should be congratulated. I thank each and every one of you.

I hope you enjoy our history info we have about every other week on page 2. There are some great stories from this City. You never know what Amy Kirby will come up with next.

A quick reminder that our next Solar City seminar is March 26 at 6 p.m. at Central Pizza in Berlin. Free pizza and beverages and bring your utility bill if you can.

Are you ready for my Facebook joke? Here is one for all you dieters out there.

“I’m not trying to brag or anything, but I finished my 14 day diet in 3 hours and 29 minutes. Just sayin!”

That’s about how long my diets last as well.

I also found a cute saying on Facebook this week.

“It’s hard to be a woman. You must think like a man. Act like a lady. Look like a young girl and walk like a horse.”

Just saying! LOL!

Until next week, remember how hard it is to be a woman and keep reading YOUR #1 Most Trusted New Britain Newspaper!
