You know it is the official start of the Christmas season when the Guida Family Tree is lit. City officials and Guida family members were on hand Tuesday night and the tree looks beautiful. It is a wonderful Downtown District event.

I wish it could be bigger. I always want the entire City lit up. Maybe, those days are really gone.

I was hoping to have the latest to bring you on the City Attorney’s decision on how to proceed with the decision to remove Mayor Pro Tem Suzanne Bielinski. No decision was made and probably nothing will happen until the January meeting.

On page 1 is an article on shopping New Britain. I know we don’t have the amount of stores we used to have. I know there aren’t as many big name stores as in past years.

But, really everyone should give local businesses a try. You may only find one thing. It doesn’t matter. It keeps the economy going and may help us all in the future. Unless residents actually support what we have, how can new business move in.

I want New Britain to prosper. I believe it will grow. Read the story. See if there is some items in there you may want to purchase. Give New Britain and Berlin stores a chance.

On page 3 is an opportunity to help out the community. The Koats for Kids drive is a great event. It seeks new or gently-used coats, hats, gloves and scarves for K-8 youngsters.

I am so proud of the NBHS football team. They really shined this year. Beating Berlin was huge. I wish them luck in their game Saturday. Win or lose they are Hard Hittin’. Go ‘Canes!!!!

Read page 1 for more on how the team got to the tournament.

Here is my weekly Joke from Facebook.

“I’m going to strap a snowblower on my roof and start driving south. When someone asks me what it is, that’s where I’m going to live.”

It would really be nice to live somewhere it doesn’t snow.
