Art League of New Britain Holding Juried Art Show December 5

The Art League of New Britain (ALNB) will hold its Third Annual Photography Show, Juried for Entry and Prizes, from Friday, Dec. 5 to Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015. There will be an Opening Reception on Friday, Dec.5, from 6 to 9 p.m. with refreshments provided. The Jurors will be Craig Frederick (Artist, Sculptor and Instructor CCSU) and Craig Norton (Photographer, Author and teacher).
Eligible artwork must be based on the photograph. Prizes will be: First Prize -$200 (Irving Blomstrann Award) Second Prize -$125 (New Britain Camera Club Award); Third Prize -$75 (Honorable Mention) and President’s Award -$100 gift certificate from Aardvark Framing.
Requirements for the show will be: Photographers may submit any number of works totaling up to 90 horizontal inches in width, framed; you may submit nine 10 inch wide framed works. Prints may be color or black & white and must be matted, framed, and be wired for hanging. Prints must have the photographer’s name, the print title, and an arrow showing the print orientation on the back. Accepted prints must remain on display until the show closes. That includes prints that are sold.
The Entry Fee will be: ALNB Members: $10 first entry and $5 each subsequent entry. Non-members: $30 first entry and $5 each subsequent entry. The Art League of New Britain will accept cash or checks for membership and/or entry fees. Checks should be made payable to “Art League of New Britain”. Fees are non-refundable.
The Calendar for receiving entries: Wednesday, Nov. 19, 5-8 p.m., Saturday, November 22, 10 a.m.–3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 23, 1 p.m.–4 p.m., Monday Nov. 24, 6-8 p.m., or by special arrangement. If desired, please include stamped self-addressed envelope and email for jury notification and pickup of non-accepted entries. Otherwise, you will be notified by email.
Judging will be on Tuesday, Nov. 25. Pick up of non-accepted entries will be on Saturday, Nov/ 29, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and Monday 7-10 p.m. Pick up of accepted works will be announced later. Identification is required for pick-up.
For sales of works: The Art League of New Britain will charge sales tax on all artwork sold. The Art League will take a 30 percent commission on all sales. Every reasonable care will be taken in the handling and storage of the prints submitted, but the Art League of New Britain will not be responsible for any loss or damage to any print before, during, or after the exhibition.
