Did you bring your child to Halloween Spooktacular at Slade Middle School last Saturday? It looked like so much fun. I wish I was young again. The costumes were great.

I hope to see many of you Downtown Friday night for The Halloween Safe Zone Trick or Treat. I have to admit I am both excited and nervous. Seeing the kids having fun is amazing. There is nothing else like it.

I ate at Riley’s Hot Dog and Burger Gourmet on Glen St. again last week. The mac-n-cheese burger was in my Top 3 best burgers ever. It is my new favorite burger.

It really ruins my never ending diet.

I hear we have another new restaurant in Wing It! It opened up near Central Connecticut State University. Wings are another one of my favorite foods so I will give that place a try. It will be hard to beat Roma’s hot and sweet wings.

I want to thank everyone who went to the Frosty Mug last week for our Halloween Fundraiser. We raised $200. Thank you Frosty Mug. It was a lot of fun and I had the chance to meet the Incredible Hulk. He will make an appearance downtown Friday night as well.

I also saw that The Hardware City Bike Tour went great last Saturday. Wouldn’t it be nice to see New Britain a biking community? It makes the City seem more friendly and more like a suburb. It would make the City a destination point if cyclists across the state come here to ride around and see our parks and more.

The biggest topic in The New Britain City Journal Facebook group this week was not even about New Britain. People were very upset about Newington schools not celebrating Halloween as it was against some people’s religious beliefs. I don’t see Halloween as a religious holiday. It seems to be about kids. It made me more thankful we celebrate it big in New Britain. Newington children are welcome to join in our festivities.

I’m trying hard not to talk too much about the elections this week. But, if you want to see what ballots will look like please see page 5. Also, you may write in Todd Davis Cheney under write-in for the 6th state senate if you wish to. It is not on the ballot, but I thought you may want to know.

The national gas price is now at $3.04. On the Berlin Turnpike a few gas stations are selling it for $2.97. I sure hope it stays that way.

Time for a joke that I found quite timely,

“Don’t forget to turn your clocks back this weekend. I’m turning mine back to when I was 20 years old.”

Okay, maybe I don’t want to be that young. But, 25, 30 or even 40 is alright with me.

Until next week turn your clock back and keep reading YOUR #1 Most Trusted New Britain Newspaper!
